"I left Michael's Yoga for Parents class feeling restored, refreshed and relaxed.  It's wonderful to be able to spend an hour on the mat with your baby next to you in such a welcoming and calm atmosphere.  The yoga is gentle with the option to challenge yourself more if you feel like it and Michael's teaching is clear, precise and pleasingly free of mumbo-jumbo.

 Michael’s yoga classes have proved to be of outstanding benefit for me as a (nearly!)57 year old and as someone who has gone through my fair share of medical problems and operations in recent years.

The once a week classes are fantastic: Following the class I have woken  up the next day feeling  immediate benefit :stretched and more toned. Michael is also happy to offer individual advice on how to do simple stretches and exercises that can be done at work to avoid ending the day with back ache. 

Michael is a superb and experienced teacher who makes everybody feel welcome and included. The groups are small and accessible to a broad range of ages and levels of ability. He takes time and care to ensure that individual weaknesses can be overcome and strengthened.  Each class focuses on different area of body each week and are never dull. What I like most about doing Michaels class is that they are really good FUN and usually involve a good amount of humour and joviality!  I highly recommend his classes to you whether you are 16 or 106!!!

We have been attending Michael’s yoga classes since he began at the Friends Meeting House a couple of years ago. We had been to many classes after our former instructor stopped her classes but none seemed to suit us. In fact, Kristin, my wife, and I encouraged Michael when we heard he was thinking of setting up a class in the hope that his classes might suit our needs. We hoped for relaxing, non-competitive sessions where we would be gently encouraged to go that little bit further than we felt capable. This has proved to be the case and we now attend two sessions every week. Yoga in these classes is serious but also great fun. Michael is clearly excited by learning more and more about yoga and he enjoys sharing what he learnt with us

I have had back problems since my teenage years, as an adult the episodes of back problems became more frequent and lasted for much longer periods of time. The pain would be so bad it became debilitating.  I started Michael's yoga lessons in September 2013. I have never looked back! Every yoga position is learnt carefully and fully understood to gradually build up our understanding of yoga along with learning important breathing techniques. I have had one episode of pain since starting the lessons which only lasted a few days rather than a few weeks!  Yoga has helped me to move and breath in the right way. I truly believe the lessons have helped me and will continue to do so not just for my back but every part of life.

I have finally grasped the breathing! I can now breathe right into the abdomen below the navel and into the legs! I enjoyed the class today.

 

I'm getting a great deal out of the twice a week yoga sessions. I leave the session feeling calm, stretched, flexible, balanced, energetic and centred and walk away feeling I own the day!

 

I can't explain it in any other way. 

 

I like the fact that you have your own unique focus based on the different personalities in the class so that the level is 'open'. I feel challenged by some of the yoga poses but at the same time feel 'restored'. It feels like I have had a session of healing the body and the mind.

The focus of Michael Butler’s enjoyable yoga sessions is on stretching, balance and breathing; and if one stays the course then one gradually becomes more agile and more flexible. Each session varies and has a pattern and flow in which he provides a gentle commentary that puts the sessions into context. I cannot recommend him highly enough.
